Bio

Coach Alyssa Tjaden joined the Alvin Community College coaching staff as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in Spring 2022.  Prior to joining ACC, Coach Tjaden coached college seasons at Iowa State University (2008) and Concordia University in Austin (2009-2010) and was a pitching consultant for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (2010-2017).

 

Originally from Austin Tx, Coach Tjaden began her coaching career in 2002 with the Texas Stix Softball Organization from 2002-2011.  Coach Tjaden directed the Texas Stix Gold 18U program assisting over 70 Texas Stix commitments to the college level.  In 2013, Coach Tjaden and her family moved to Houston, Tx where she continued to grow softball in the Houston area as a Director and founder of Illusions Gold Fastpitch.  For over 20 years Coach Tjaden has been dedicated to helping players achieve their goals of playing college softball and advancing to the highest levels.  As the recruiting coordinator for ACC Coach Tjaden helps Alvin Community College players identify their next steps and best fit for their careers after graduation from Alvin Community College.  

 

A two-time NCAA Academic All-American and a pitcher for the Iowa State softball team (Division 1), Alyssa (Ransom) pitched for Iowa State University during the 2004-2007 seasons.  Alyssa finished her career with the Cyclones a statistical leader in almost every pitching category and defeated every Big 12 opponent during her career, the first and only Cyclone to do so.  She graduated from Iowa State University, Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Kinesiology Sports Management with a minor in Economics.

 

Coach Tjaden resides in Friendswood, Tx. with her husband John and their three sons, Ransom, Jarrett, and Callan Tjaden.
