Alvin Community College’s Baseball team extends their win streak to 11 after taking both games of doubleheader against Angelina.
Lufkin, Texas- ACC Baseball took the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 8-5(F7). Game two also went to the Dolphins, with a score of 5-1(F7).
ACC fell behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first in game one, but ACC responded with three straight innings in which the Dolphins scored two runs. Four straight singles from Lane Escamilla, Cade Baker, Chris Chavez and Tanner Marek resulted in two runs in the top of the second inning. Alex Guejardo's second home run of the year lead off the top of the third inning, and Chris Chavez doubled in Lane Escamilla later in the inning to increase the lead to 4-1. Angelina's Jacob Tanguma got his second RBI in the bottom of the third when he drove in Connor Ficarra for a second time. Guejardo drove in another run in the form of Joe Mancinas with an RBI single in the top of the fourth, and then Tori Martin-Rodriguez's RBI single brought Guejardo into score for a second time in the game. A couple of RBI groundouts for the Roadrunners cut the lead to 6-4 at the end of five innings. Pinch Hitter Keaton Hawk hit a two run homer in the top of the seventh inning to put Alvin up 8-4. An RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning proved inconsequential as the Dolphins prevailed by a final score of 8-5 (F7). Sophomore Starting Pitcher Josh Pena earned the win with four and two thirds innings pitched, allowing three earned runs and striking out three. Sophomore Reliever Reagan James came in with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, and would finish the game, allowing just one earned run and striking out two. Sophomore Outfielder Alex Guejardo went 3-4 with a two run homer. Sophomore Outfielder Cade Baker also went 3-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. ACC outhit Angelina 15-7 in game one.
In game two, ACC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Tanner Marek and a steal of home by Hayden Carpenter after Damon Hernandez was caught in a rundown long enough for Carpenter to score. No one else would score until the top of the fifth when Joe Mancinas would score on a wild pitch, with Alex Guejardo singling in Ayden Pearcy on the next pitch to put ACC up 4-0. Angelina would get on the board with an RBI single from Connor Ficarra in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-1. Carpenter would score the final run of the ball game in the top of the sixth on a Joe Mancinas RBI single. Pittsburgh Commit and Starting Pitcher Adam Wade, started the game and went four and two thirds innings allowing just one hit, one run and striking out three Roadrunners. Sophomore Reliever Austin Ryan, earned a hold with an inning and a third of scoreless relief before Sophomore Reliever Jacob Wingard entered, getting the final three outs in scoreless fashion.
