ACC Baseball Takes Game Two of Four-Game Series vs Wharton at Home
Alvin Community College's Baseball team defeated Wharton 5-2 in the second game of this four-game set.
ACC got on the board with an RBI single from Nayden Ramirez in the bottom of the first inning that scored Joe Mancinas. The Dolphins scored again in the bottom of the second on Hayden Carpenter's second home run of the season, a towering 421-foot blast to right center. ACC lead 2-0 until Wharton's David Bell hit a two run homer that tied the game in the top of the fourth. ACC would then jump back in front in the bottom of the fourth on a Caden Miller solo shot. ACC's starter Josh Pena got into a jam in the top of the sixth, when Reagan James entered with the bases loaded and two outs, getting a huge strike out to keep the Dolphins lead intact. ACC would score again on a two-run homer from Nayden Ramirez in the bottom of the seventh, stretching the lead up to it's final score of 5-2.
ACC's starter Josh Pena earned the win, as he went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out five. Reagan James got the save, tossing 3 1/3 innings without allowing a run or hit, and striking out six.
ACC improved their season record to 13-6 and conference record to 2-3 with the win.
ACC will finish the four game series against Wharton with a doubleheader at Wharton on Saturday.
