Seven Lady Dolphins Receive Post-Season Awards

ALVIN, TX – The NJCAA Region 14 announced the 2023 softball All-Conference and All-Region Teams and seven players from Alvin Community College were recognized on this years list. 

Tavery Ortiz – First Team All-Conference (IF), First Team All-Region (IF), NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Ortiz played in 47 games for the Lady Dolphins. With a .408 batting average, she recorded 51 hits, 20 RBI, 18 doubles, 3 triples, and scored 25 runs. Ortiz recorded a season high of 3 hits and 2 RBI against Lamar State College.  

Kasen Morkisch – First Team All-Conference (OF), Second Team All-Region (OF), NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Playing in 48 games this season, Morkisch had a .377 batting average with 58 hits, 25 RBI, 4 doubles, 7 triples, and scored 48 runs. Morkisch had a season high of 3 hits and 5 RBI versus Eureka College. 

Alasia Haines – Second Team All-Conference (OF)

Haines played in 44 games for the Lady Dolphins recording 29 hits, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 16 RBI, and scored 26 runs. Haines recorded a season high of 4 hits and 2 RBI against Monroe College. 

Alexis Obregon – Second Team All-Conference (P), NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Pitching in 125.2 innings this season, Obregon had a total of 41 strikeouts and had 11 wins for the Lady Dolphins. Obregon had a season high of 4 strikeouts against Jarvis Christian College and Kilgore College. 

Bel Lopez – Second Team All-Conference (IF), NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Lopez played in 37 games recording a .371 batting average. She had 36 hits, 22 RBI, 5 doubles, 2 home-runs, and scored 15 runs. Lopez had a season high of 3 hits and 2 RBI versus Blinn College. 

Liberty Herrera – Second Team All-Conference (DP), NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Herrera played in 48 games this season and recorded a .397 batting average including 54 hits, 26 RBI, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home-runs, and scored 25 runs. Herrera had a season high of 3 hits and 2 RBI against Monroe College. 

Kaleiah Tatlonghari - NJCAA Region 14 All-Academic Team

Playing in 43 games for the Lady Dolphins, Tatlonghari recorded 16 hits, 11 RBI, 2 doubles, 3 home-runs, and scored 16 runs. She had a season high of 3 hits and 4 RBI against Hill College.
